Many of us have become so comfortable with our “things” that we can’t see the forest for the trees.
I remember hearing this as a child, when it was so much easier for me to toss things in the closet or under the bed, in hopes that they wouldn’t be seen or my parents might not find them. Not until I had my own home, did I appreciate the concept of “things” having their own place and how that made my life so much more peaceful.
Therefore, in order for life to go smoother, believe it or not clearing out your clutter will boost everything.
Remember how good we feel when we clean out our closet. All of a sudden we feel lighter and happier that the mess is gone and we've gotten rid of things that we haven't used in years.
The rule of thumb is if you haven't used in it in more than a year (and some people like to stretch this to two years) the odds that you will are nill. So just "throw it out". This will make room for more good things to enter your life.
That is the premise of Feng Shui. When we walk into model homes, and there are minimal amounts of personal items around, it feels new and fresh to us. Feng Shui is based on the same philosophy. “Less is More”.
Having clutter in our lives, and hoarding things from the past, can cause us serious problems. We can begin to feel very lethargic, have a series of small illness that can potentially grow into very large ones.
Remember how good we feel after we’ve begun spring cleaning or taken the time to clean out our closet? We’ll that’s good Feng Shui.
Having so much “stuff” can cause a loss of opportunities. If we clear out things that we really don’t need or no longer want, we are allowing new experiences to come into our lives.
