The Five Elements in feng shui refer to water, wood, fire, earth and metal. These elements are considered the stepping stones to good feng shui.
If your home or office is feeling uncomfortable, it can have a lot to do with the elements present in this space. Are there too many elements or not enough?
The water element is associated with your career, business and opportunities. If there is too much water, too many dark colors of blue, black and purple, or too many wavy shapes, you could be feeling lethargic, suffer from depression or carry excess weight. Adding fire elements will help balance you.
The wood element is associated with your health, family, growth and innovation. The shape that represents wood is a rectangle. It also refers to financial conditions good or bad. If you are having problems with any of these areas of your life it could mean that you have too much wood or the lack thereof. If there is not enough, add water. If there is too much wood, add metal.
The fire element is associated with your reputation, popularity, good family name, good friends and happiness. Too little fire can cause lack of ambition, low self-esteem, and lack of enthusiasm. Too much fire can cause arguments and hot tempers. Fire is the only element that must be created. The shape related to fire is the triangle. It also can be created with candles and lamps. The colors that relate to fire are red, orange and bright yellows.
The earth element is associated with stability and being in a caring environment. If there is too little earth you could be experiencing unhappy relationships, unclear thinking, hyperactivity, smothering, and boredom or be too overly serious. The colors related to this element are light yellow and beiges, with the shape being square. To activate an earth element, add fire elements. If there is too much earth element, balance with plants or other wood elements.
The metal element is associated with creativity. It is considered to be the veins of the earth as is also represented with the flow of energy within you. It brings you clear thinking and logic. The colors associated with metal are silver, gold, white and gray. Metal is represented by round, oval and arch-like shapes. Too little metal can cause you to become indecisive, unimaginative and disorganized. Televisions, stereos, computers and ceiling fans are considered metal objects. Therefore, too much of these items can cause you to speak before thinking, appear injudicious and create too much movement. To balance the metal if there is too much, add water or water elements. If there is not enough, add earth elements, along with your metal objects.
Let’s put some “blossoms” into your life!
